"Palace Retour" is about a man who left home to discover the big, wide world of hotels and restaurants. It's a story with no beginning and no end. Instead, it gathers a colourful collection of impressions, ideas and stories from the real life of a culinary artist. The hero of this tale is Franz W. Faeh, the down-to-earth Saanenland boy who left Gstaad when he was 21, and returned at the age of 55. His journey came full circle when he became Culinary Director at the Gstaad Palace - the very place where he started out as an apprentice chef. This is not a conventional cookbook. Rather than presenting a sequence of traditional recipes, its 200 plus pages offer nourishment for both mind and soul. The choice of stories and dishes is deliberately eclectic, inspired by the moment and the experience. Unconstrained, you might say - but with style, and always true to Franz's unpretentious taste. Über den Autor
Dr Reto Wilhelm, born in 1966, grew up in Graubünden (Switzerland) and studied German, journalism and psychology in Zurich. He is a publicist and author of countless books and magazines at his agency Panta Rhei PR. He has been immersed in the tourism and gastronomy sectors for over 30 years, and is a seasoned traveller who has developed a passion for fine food from all over the world. He shares a long-standing friendship with Franz W. Faeh, whom he got to know and appreciate as a true master of his art during his time as Editor-in-Chief of the "GSTAAD PALACE JOURNAL".
