Beschreibung
Wingless I Watch was written in as much time as it takes an albatross to circumnavigate the earth approximately 26 times. Inspiration came not only from the life force of the sea its birds, but also The Seabird's Cry, by Adam Nicholson to which this collection is a direct response. From fulmars to puffins these poems you on oceanic journeys to witness the lives of some of the planet's most entrancing birds. Some poems do not flinch from telling it like it is and diving into the often vicious circumstances that enforce battles for survival.

The collection was critiqued by the Esperance writing group, mentored by Jacqueline Saphra and sliced open by Arji Manuelpillai all of whom I owe massive thanks. The Shetland poems of Jen Hadfield were also incredibly influential to the feel of this collection.

"Woodford's poems are illuminating and exhilarating filled with all the wonderful stories and imagery of the natural world. This is a pamphlet of protest, bringing awareness to species of birds close to extinction, in hearing those stories and intricacies we gain a new understanding of our own responsibility as humans in this world. This is a voice destined for greatness."
