The Crescent Moon Fox is a compassionate, heart-breaking, brutal, and occasionally, humorous, novel about Cypriot Turks. The reader experiences the lives of the inhabitants of one particular village during the lead-up to Independence from Britain and the tragic aftermath of the post-Colonial era in Cyprus - and in particular, of two of its young men: Zeki and Aydin. Zeki who, shaped and nurtured by the British Colonial system, is destined for great things; and Aydin, a misfit in his community who, in his own complex and disturbing way, achieves greatness and redemption.

The span of the novel is from the nineteen thirties to the first decade of the twenty first century - showing the life of the Cypriot Turks, unique and distinct as a minority, in the lead-up to Independence and to what they become in the modern era. It gives a voice to Cypriot Turks, of all different backgrounds, and particularly to the illiterate rural women of the Colonial Era. The Crescent Moon Fox is also a poignant journey of discovery of one's true identity...

Über den Autor
Metin Murat is a British born Cypriot Turk. He grew up in a multi-cultural environment with deep exposure to English, French, and Welsh cultures. For much of his working life he has had close ties with North Africa, the Levant and the Gulf. He currently lives in a very rural part of the South West of France with his wife, multiple dogs and an assortment of wild-life that also lay claim, on a friendly basis, to his property.He received his history and literary education from Aberystwyth University, with an undergraduate degree and later a PhD, via a Master's degree at Lancaster University; and his business education from the London School of Economics - although he happily admits to being a hopeless dyslexic with a complete inability to 'do numbers' and learn in a linear classic fashion.For much of his adult life Metin worked for a multi-national company before setting up his own company in 2011. In recent years he has devoted his spare time to creative writing with the ambition of telling the story of his father's community, the original Turkish community of Cyprus.
