A comprehensive self-help guide for people suffering with depression and low mood

Depression and low mood affect a significant portion of the general public. Sadly, those with depression often experience other problems such as low self-esteem and relationship difficulties. But however depression is affecting you, Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) can help. CBT is used widely in the NHS and has been found to be extremely effective at helping people overcome depression and low mood.

A companion to the popular Complete CBT Guide for Anxiety, this practical self-help book provides essential information about the nature of depression and covers a range of topics including insomnia, rumination, bipolar disorder and postnatal depression. It also contains information on some of the latest treatments such as Mindfulness, Behavioural Activation and Compassion-focussed Therapy.

With the chapters on different problem areas and techniques written by the leading experts in that field, this book is an invaluable resource not only for those living with depression and their families, but also for CBT therapists and IAPT workers.

Includes individual chapters on:
Behavioural Activation by David Richards
Rumination by Edward Watkins
Imagery by Jon Wheatley and Ann Hackmann
Compassion-focussed Therapy by Paul Gilbert
Mindfulness by Willem Kuyken and Halley Cohen
Low Self-esteem by Melanie Fennell
Sleep Difficulties by Colin Espie
Couples and Depression by Donald Baucom, Tamara G. Sher, Sara E. Boeding and Christine Paprocki
Bipolar Disorders by Warren Mansell, Phillip Brawn, Robert Griffiths, Ben Silver, and Sara Tai
Postnatal Depression by Lynne Murray and Peter Cooper
Depression in Physical Illness by Stirling Moorey, Kathy Burn and Lyn Snowden
Depression in Later Life by Ken Laidlaw and Dichelle Wong
