In May 2020, Catherine Hannah's drive to work ended in a serious car crash. These are her poems, her story. This is her diary.
Though sometimes painful, this honest account of road trauma recovery is ultimately a celebration of human spirit. Over 3.5 years, 76 poems, and a sprinkle of photographs, Catherine navigates:
traumatic brain injury and post concussion syndrome
spinal fracture
post traumatic stress disorder
rehabilitation and therapy
legal proceedings
returning to driving
change and loss in career, relationships and self identity
An essential support to car accident survivors, this poetry collection serves also as a valuable window into post-collision life for professionals and loved ones- a practical alternative to "let me know if there's anything I can do".
Survivors- this book is a testament to the power of poetry for healing and a reminder that your feelings are valid. You are not alone.
