Many students, teachers and school administrators are faced with the challenge to balance academics and co-curricular activities in their institutions of learning. Schools have two core missions in school setup: co-curricular activities and academics. No one really knows whether students who participate in sports activities perform better than those who do not. The Bible puts it tersely in Ecclesiastes 9:11 that "I have observed something else under the sun. The fastest runner doesn't always win the race, and the strongest warrior doesn't always win the battle. The wise sometimes go hungry, and the skillful are not necessarily wealthy. And those who are educated don't always lead successful lives. It is all decided by chance, by being in the right place at the right time." (New Living Translation). This book attempts to explore the place of sports activities in institutions of learning. The role played by teachers and school administrators is pertinent in helping students to make good use of their opportunities in school. There is need to balance academics and sports activities. This is possible in the school setting with sound guidance from school administration.

Christopher is a seasoned teacher of English and literature in high schools in Kenya. He has also been school principal and experienced in school administration and management. He is a graded and licensed handball referee and currently officiate Australian Handball National League.
