Alongside eloquent and insightful essays on cultural phenomena such as "The Wire? and artists including David Hammons, Andy Warhol, Julie Mehretu, and Thomas Hirschhorn, the book also sheds light on the artist's biography and opinions in a number of interviews. With an introduction by MoMA curator Thomas (T.) Jean Lax and a new afterword by Ligon himself.

Über den Autor

Glenn Ligon (born 1960) is an American conceptualist artist whose work pursues an incisive exploration of American history, literature and society, across bodies of work that build critically on the legacies of modern painting and conceptual art.

Thomas (T.) Jean Lax is a curator at MoMA and a writer specialising in Black art, queer study and performance.
