Baochun Chen is a Professor in the College of Civil Engineering at Fuzhou University, China. His research interests are focused in the areas of bridge engineering, especially CFST arch bridges in the past decades. He serves as the Secretary General of Permanent Scientific Committee of the International Conference on Arch Bridges (PSC-iCAB), Director of China Chapter of Asian Concrete Federation (ACF), and Vice Chair of China Steel Construction Society Association for Steel-Concrete Composite Structures, etc. He has been an editorial board member for China Civil Engineering Journal, Journal of Building Structures, China Journal of Highway and Transport, Engineering Mechanics, Open Journal of Civil Engineering, Advanced Concrete Construction, etc. He has authored/co-authored more than 300 academic papers and published several books, and has been the Editor-in-Chief of 6 international conference proceedings. He also contributed a chapter titled "Arch Bridges" in Bridge Engineering Handbook published by CRC in 2013. He was the Editor-in-Chief of the national standard of China Technical Code for Concrete-filled Steel Tube Arch Bridges (GB 50923-2013) and the editorial board member of several industrial standards.
He has been awarded the Second Prize of National Science and Technology Progress Award and several provincial awards. He has been honored with Provincial Distinguished Teacher, Excellent Talent, Outstanding Talent in Science and Technology, and Leading Talent in Scientific and Technological Innovation.
Junping Liu is a Professor in the College of Civil Engineering at Fuzhou University, China. His research interests focus on bridge engineering, especially concrete-filled steel tubular (CFST) arch bridges. He has participated in the design consultation, construction monitoring, scientific research for many CFST arch bridges in China. He is working on developing arch bridge systems with new structural systems and new materials, such as steel-concrete composite arch bridges and ultra-high performance concrete arch bridges. He serves as the deputy director of the sustainable and innovative bridge engineering research center of Fuzhou University. He has authored/co-authored more than 50 academic papers, and has won several provincial awards.
Jiangang Wei is now the vice-president of Fujian University of Technology. His research interests are focused in the areas of composite structures in civil engineering. He serves as the director of Association for Bridge and Structural Engineering of China Civil Engineering Society, also is the editorial board member for Journal of Architecture and Civil Engineering, and the member of Teaching Guidance Committee of Civil Engineering for Ministry of Education of China, and the leader of University Scientific Innovation Team in Fujian Province.
He has presided over several general projects of the National Natural Science Foundation of China and province major science and technology projects. He has also authored/co-authored more than 70 academic papers, published 2 Chinese monographs, and translated 2 English monographs of "Strengthening of Concrete Structures Using Fiber Reinforced Polymers (FRP)" and "Eurocode 4: Design of Composite Steel and Concrete Structures: Part 1-1, General rules and rules for buildings (BS EN 1994-1-1)". He has more than 10 international and Chinese patents, and won several science and technology awards at provincial level.
Addresses systematically all aspects of concrete-filled steel tubular arch bridges, from structural features, mechanical performance, design and theory, to construction and maintenance
Includes abundant real-world bridge examples to demonstrate the evolving research and engineering application of concrete-filled steel tubular arch bridges around the globe as well as the state-of-the-art construction technology
Offers open questions at the end of each chapter to promote more thinking
