Beschreibung

Acquired Speech and Language Disorders offers a unique integrated approach to the neurology and anatomical functions of speech language disorders. The book provides a specific and thorough explanation of the neurological basis of speech and language deficits occurring subsequent to neurological diseases or brain injury. It provides comprehensive coverage of both the clinically recognized forms of aphasia and motor speech disorders, in both adults and children; as well as more recently recognized language disorders such as Parkinson's and related diseases, right hemisphere damage, closedhead injury and dementia. Finally, in addition, recently-developed brain imaging methods such as MRI and PET are outlined and their implications for speech-language pathology discussed. Über den Autor

Professor Bruce E. Murdoch is the Director of the Centre for Neurogenic Communication Disorders Research and Head of the School of Health and Rehabilitation Sciences at the University of Queensland, Brisbane, Australia. He is the founding editor of the Asia Pacific Journal of Speech, Language and Hearing, the Foundation President of the Asia Pacific Society for the Study of Speech, Language and Hearing; and Vice-President of the International Association of Logopedics and Phoniatrics.
