In 2023, while discussing the geography of Jerusalem with biblical scholar Dr. James D. Tabor, Todd West realized Tabor may have discovered the historical Calvary at a hillock called Bible Hill in southwest Jerusalem. This insight was momentous because no one knows for certain where Jesus was crucified. Illustrating its prominence, Bible Hill makes two cameos in the book of Joshua, and everyone in the Bible who ever came to the Holy City gazed at its impressive summit overlooking Mount Zion and the Hinnom Valley. Truly, a crucifixion on Bible Hill would have been unforgettable. Bible Hill has the prerequisites to be Calvary as well. It was outside the city; had first-century garden tombs; sat by a major road; was visible from afar; and was located where crowds could gather. Bible Hill also faced the Praetorium, and shows countless other signs of being Calvary—from burial pits with coins minted by Pontius Pilate, to potential crucifixion nails in the urns of Roman soldiers. Bible Hill even looks like Goliath’s gigantic skull, explaining how it could have been called the Place of the Skull. This book lays out the case for the evidence that now indicates Bible Hill is the site of Jesus’ crucifixion, signaling a revolution in biblical geography.
