Beschreibung
From a millennial climate activist, an exploration of how young people live in the shadow of catastrophe

"Strikingly perceptive." -Jenny Offill, author of Weather

"Beautifully rendered and bracingly honest." -Jenny Odell, author of How to Do Nothing

Warmth is a new kind of book about climate change: not what it is or how we solve it, but how it feels to imagine a future-and a family-under its weight. In a fiercely personal account written from inside the climate movement, Sherrell lays bare how the crisis is transforming our relationships to time, to hope, and to each other. At once a memoir, a love letter, and an electric work of criticism, Warmth goes to the heart of the defining question of our time: how do we go on in a world that may not?

Zusammenfassung
A GAP IN THE CLIMATE LITERATURE: Our society has so few outlets for our climate anxieties that feel genuinely useful or comforting, and books about climate change are rarely written from within the youth-led climate movement itself. Warmth is not prescriptive or judgmental about how people should feel-instead, it invites further conversation about several hallmarks of younger generations' discussions about this issue, from the question of whether or not to have children to the problem of burnout.

EFFECTIVE SPEAKER IMMERSED IN CLIMATE ACTIVISM: Sherrell's deep involvement in facing these challenges over the past decade has made him a powerful speaker who delivers clear, passionate explanations of the ideas in this book. Writers and activists in his network include Naomi Klein, Bill McKibben, Elizabeth Rush, and Robert McFarlane.

STRONG CATEGORY FOR PENGUIN: The publisher of massively popular climate books such as Paul Hawken's Drawdown and Greta Thunberg's No One is Too Small to Make a Difference, along with several beautiful meditations on nature by writers like Robert MacFarlane and Rebecca Solnit, Penguin is the ideal home for Warmth, where it will also be readily accessible to younger readers as a paperback original.
