'After reading Vanished Years I didn't just want to buy the book but kidnap its author and gallivant about town with him for ever'
Guardian

Rupert Everett has been compared with Evelyn Waugh, David Niven, Noel Coward and Lord Byron. But he remains - of course - one of a kind. Mischievous, touching and nothing less than brilliant, his new memoir is filled with stories from childhood to the present. A pilgrimage to Lourdes with his father is both hilarious and moving. A misguided step into reality TV goes horribly wrong. From New York to Moscow to Berlin to Phnom Penh, Vanished Years takes the reader on a wild and wonderful journey with a charming (and rather disreputable) companion.

'A literary star ... Anyone who enjoys peeking behind the curtain of celebrity life will love it. However, what really sets this book apart is its unexpected subtlety'
Daily Telegraph

'A supremely gifted writer ... We know Everett can do Wildean wit but he has an even greater, unexpected gift for conveying landscape and atmosphere' Lynn Barber, Sunday Times

'Brilliantly written ... searingly honest' Daily Mail

'His analysis of human life, its pain and its splendour, is superb' Simon Callow, Sunday Express Books of the Year

'A masterpiece' Evening Standard

'Most of all he is just a very good writer indeed' Julie Burchill, Observer
