The Tsuba, hand guard to the Samurai warrior's Katana, has captivated the Gallery's heart and holds centre stage. This book is a result of the gallery's current digitisation efforts and is the first official point of access for the gallery, along with its Insta social media page.
A wide range of Tsuba styles, themes, and construction methods are seen with the aid of over 200 colour photos showcasing 100+ Tsuba hand guards. Photos depicting the actual size of the Tsuba have also been included. A comprehensive glossary summarises the historical terminology that is used within the book, and a bibliography lists the modern/current references used in providing the book's information.
This is the largest collection of Tsuba in Western Australia.
