Beschreibung
Towards a Philosophy of Education is the sixth volume of Charlotte Mason's six part homeschooling series, a series that is considered one of the finest ever written on education.

Towards a Philosophy of Education gives the best overview of Mason's teaching philosophy. Written years after she was able to see her teaching methods in action she is able to give further examples and directions.

Mason's method of education shows its strength through its widespread use today by private schools and homeschooling families. It is flexible and includes first-hand exposure to ideas through books in art, music, and poetry, nature observation as the primary means of early science teaching, use of manipulatives and real-life application to understand mathematical concepts and learning to reason, rather than rote memorization, and an emphasis on character and on cultivating and maintaining good personal habits.

The complete collection of Charlotte Mason's Original Homeschooling Series includes:

Volume 1 - Home Education
Volume 2 - Parents and Children
Volume 3 - School Education
Volume 4 - Ourselves
Volume 5 - Formation Of Character
Volume 6 - Towards A Philosophy of Education

Über den Autor
Charlotte Mason (1842-1923) was a pioneering British educator and author whose ideas reshaped approaches to childhood education, particularly in the areas of homeschooling and classical learning. Born in Bangor, Wales, she devoted her life to understanding how children learn and how education could nurture not only knowledge but also character, curiosity, imagination, and a lifelong love of [...] believed that children should be treated as complete individuals with their own capacity for thought and understanding. She advocated the use of "living books" written by engaging authors, regular exposure to literature, history, art, music, and nature, and learning methods that encouraged observation, reflection, and independent thinking rather than simple memorization. Her educational philosophy emphasized the importance of forming good habits, developing moral responsibility, and creating an environment where children could grow intellectually and personally.Through her writings, teacher training, and the establishment of schools based on her methods, Mason influenced generations of educators. Her six-volume series Home Education and other works continue to inspire parents and teachers worldwide who seek an educational approach centered on knowledge, creativity, discipline, and respect for the developing mind of the child.
