Über den Autor

Edward Elmer "Doc" Smith (1890-1965) was an American science fiction writer best known as one of the pioneers of space opera. Trained as a food engineer and holding a doctorate in chemistry, Smith brought a background in science to the grand, interstellar adventures that defined his [...] achieved early fame with The Skylark of Space (co-written with Lee Hawkins Garby), one of the foundational works of large-scale interplanetary adventure. Smith's later Lensman series expanded the scope of science fiction to galaxy-spanning conflicts, vast alien civilizations, and cosmic weaponry, helping establish many of the conventions of epic space fantasy.Though sometimes exuberant in scale, Smith's work captured the optimism and imaginative reach of early twentieth-century speculative fiction.
