Lucy Maud Montgomery (1874-1942) was a Canadian novelist and short story writer whose work has been translated into numerous languages and remains widely read throughout the world. While Anne of Green Gables brought her international recognition, Montgomery published hundreds of short stories and numerous novels over the course of her career.
