Mrs E. Parker wrote for the fancier: breed history and points, the practical business of breeding and rearing, management, and the preparation of a dog for exhibition. She was writing in the period when British classification still gathered every size of German Spitz under the one name and separated them by weight at shows - so a good deal of what she describes has since been reorganised out of existence.
