Oxford women are being targeted. And private detective Doug Mullen is the prime suspect. Doug meets a young woman in the foyer of a cinema in east Oxford and offers to buy her a drink. The next morning the woman's mutilated body is found in a ditch. And Doug is arrested on suspicion of murder. But with no evidence to hold him, Doug is released from Cowley Road police station. Later that week, Doug heads to the pub to meet a new client. But as he's buying her a drink at the bar, she disappears, leaving a book on her vacant seat. First woman he meets ends up dead in a ditch. Second woman he meets disappears. One might be bad luck, but two is a police investigation . . .

Über den Autor
Peter Tickler writes crime novels set in and around the city of Oxford. He has been praised for the authenticity of his Oxford ('a wonderful gift of creating geographically factual settings for his fictional characters' - Oxford Times) as well as the pace of his stories ('deliciously thrilling and wildly unpredictable' - Oxford Today). His main protagonists are DI Susan Holden, a no-holds-barred Detective Inspector with an anger-management problem, and Doug Mullen, a private eye who can't say 'No' to any damsel (or dog) in distress. Peter writes a regular column for Mystery People, has two short films under his belt and gives talks at festivals, libraries, U3As, Women's Institutes and even in Her Majesty's Prisons.
