Beschreibung
Before The Ice Storm or The Corrections there was THE MAN IN THE GRAY FLANNEL SUIT. Originally published almost fifty years ago, Sloan Wilson's masterpiece was one of the first novels of corporate and suburban disenchantment to capture the imagination of America at large. It was an overnight literary sensation - a national best-seller in the U.S. that was translated into twentysix languages around the world and became an award-winning film starring Gregory Peck. In our era of Enron, Wilson's damning account of the inhumanity of big business remains unmistakably relevant today. It is the story of Tom and Betsy Rath, a young couple three healthy children, a nice home and a steady income. They have every reason to be happy, but for some reason they are not. Trapped in the corporate rat race, Tom encounters something that will propel him on a life-changing voyage of self-discovery. At once a searing indictment of corporate culture and a testament to the enduring power of family, this is a deeply rewarding novel about the importance of taking responsibility for one's own life.
