Über den Autor

Keith Laumer (1925-1993) was an American science fiction writer best known for his sharp wit, inventive worldbuilding, and enduring series characters. Before turning to full-time writing, Laumer served in the United States Air Force and later worked in the U.S. Foreign Service-experiences that directly informed his popular "Retief" stories, a satirical series set within an interstellar diplomatic corps.Laumer is also remembered for his "Bolo" series, featuring self-aware military tanks bound by codes of honor and loyalty, as well as for the dimension-hopping adventures of Jaime Retief and the time-traveling exploits of the Imperium series. His fiction combines action, humor, and speculative imagination with a strong sense of personal responsibility and moral consequence.A consistent presence in mid-twentieth-century science fiction magazines and paperback originals, Laumer's work helped define the energetic, idea-driven tradition of classic American science fiction. His stories remain widely read for their pace, ingenuity, and enduring appeal.
