Beschreibung
  • ESSENTIAL COMPUTING HISTORY: The Dream Machine is the most comprehensive history of the genesis of modern computing, meticulously researched by a veteran journalist and editor at Nature, Science, and MIT Technology Review.
  • CELEBRATED REISSUE: The Dream Machine has been praised by the New York Times, Wired, USA Today, and the San Francisco Chronicle for its “ambitious” and “compelling” exploration of the origins of modern computing.
  • PROPHET OF THE INTERNET: The Dream Machine makes an indisputable case for J.C.R. Licklider as “computing’s Johnny Appleseed”—the first person to realize the transformative potential of personal computing, who predicted the advent of the internet.
  • ENGAGED COMMUNITY: Stripe Press has a sizable community of avid fans—who run the gamut from startup founders to executives at some of the world’s largest companies—who eagerly await each new title. Many readers tweet about our books—the Stripe Press “shelfie” is a genre unto itself—as do the founders of Stripe and many Stripe employees.
