Beschreibung
In his book The Derbyshire "Kraut", Johannes M. Ludwig describes the challenging experiences during his four-year stay in the United Kingdom when the country was still part of the European Union. After his studies and first professional experience in Germany, he and his French wife decided to cross the English Channel to find work and accommodation in Derbyshire. With courage and a lot of initiative, he looked for jobs, started out as a casual worker in a colour factory, became a warehouse assistant, continued his education, and worked as a language assistant for German at Derby College. After one and a half years in the country, he was offered a permanent employment contract as a "Technical Support Engineer" with an international machine tool company in Derbyshire. In addition to sharing his adventures in looking for work, Ludwig also describes his leisure activities and housing search. After two years in a romantic old flat, the couple moves to a lovely country house on the edge of the Pennines. The birth of their first French/German daughter in the UK is a very special occasion for the young family. Returning to the Continent after four successful years in the UK turns out to be more difficult than expected.
Let yourself be inspired by this very special life experience. Although the events described in this book took place in the eighties, the way two young people set off with courage and confidence in their skills and strengths to gain life experience in a foreign country is just as exciting and inspiring today as it was back then. The courage to take risks finally led to success.

Über den Autor
Johannes M. Ludwig (born in 1956 in Southern Germany) studied business economics at the Technical College and the University of the Saarland (Western Germany) and gained his first professional experience as a sales representative in Northern Germany.
In 1985 he decided, together with his French wife, to move to the UK for a few years. The couple chose Derby as their place of residence, Osnabrück's twin town in England.
After returning to Germany, Ludwig worked for an international group of companies until his retirement in 2019.
He is married, has two daughters, and several grandchildren, and lives in Southern Germany.
He still enjoys returning to the UK, visiting friends, hiking in the picturesque mountains and valleys of Derbyshire, appreciating the sights of the region, and still feels associated with the people and the landscape.
