Über den Autor
Émile Zola (1840-1902) was a French novelist and critic and a central figure in the naturalist movement. Best known for his twenty-volume Rougon-Macquart series, Zola sought to portray society through detailed observation and an emphasis on heredity and environment. His work influenced later developments in realism and modern fiction, and he played a prominent public role during the Dreyfus Affair through his open letter "J'Accuse."
