Über den Autor

Willemijn Verkoren is Associate Professor Conflict Studies and International Relations at Radboud University Nijmegen, The Netherlands. A historian and political scientist with a PhD in International Development Studies, Willemijn has carried out research in countries around the world, analyzing peacebuilding and development approaches in a changing global context, security policy and its legitimation, terrorism and counterterrorism, and civil society and social movements.

Willemijn has taught various university courses, including Terrorism: Image and Reality, and supervised numerous PhD and Master thesis projects.

Previously, Willemijn was Director of Radboud's Centre for International Conflict Analysis and Management (CICAM) and member of the Dutch government's advisory council on international affairs (AIV).

Next to her academic activities, Willemijn works as a freelance researcher, author, policy adviser and lecturer, based in Amsterdam. She focuses on analyzing conflict, critically assessing security and counterterrorism policies, and developing strategies for global development and peace.

Willemijn regularly publishes in scientific journals and books as well as in popular and professional media. She also maintains the War and Peace blog.
