"Temperament is the biologically-based facet of personality that contributes to defining who a person is. Temperament can be shaped and refined to shift destructive trait expressions to productive expressions of strength and well-being. Temperament is an underlying cause of anorexia nervosa. Temperament-Based Therapy with Supports (TBT-S) is a novel treatment approach that addresses underlying genetic, neurobiological and trait bases of anorexia nervosa. It is applied in modules. Novel treatments are needed because anorexia nervosa (AN) has one of the highest mortality rates among all mental illnesses and a low treatment efficacy over time. It was developed to augment ongoing eating disorder treatments. This manual addresses what TBT-S is and how to apply its wide range of temperament-based modules in all levels of care and treatment settings. It offers a plethora of treatment tools and skills for therapists, dietitians, medical professionals, and educators. Scripts are in italics throughout the manual. Clinicians are encouraged not to read the scripts verbatim, but instead learn the points and share them in their own voices"--
