Beschreibung
As a village child in the German Palatinate, Alfred Moritz could never imagine the odyssey that was about to overtake him in the European turmoil of the mid-twentieth century. Living through Kristallnacht, the mass exodus into France, and the German occupation, he escaped the fate of a million and a half Jewish children who did not survive the Holocaust.
The author seeks to understand and document the persecution of those whose only crime was to be "different".

The book is illustrated throughout with the author's sketches and paintings of the locations and events that marked his fugitive childhood.
