SHE'LL BE DEAD BY MORNING

They've shot at him, and kidnapped his wife. Now Jim Steele is on the train to Chicago because the message he received by phone was very clear. Take the train to Chicago or Lisa will be dead by morning. But whoever "they" are doesn't reckon on Steele's resolve. There's one of them on the train with him, and he hops the car using his pursuer as ballast. Heading back to New York City, he still has no idea what the hell is going on. But before the evening is over, there will be three deaths and a race against time that takes Steele all over the city, hounded by someone who wants him dead-and with no idea how to rescue his wife.

When Steele runs into millionairess Brenda Carroll on her way to catch her ship, she asks him as a favor to retrieve a box of jewels from her apartment that she forgot. Once there, he discovers the murdered bodies of a blonde and an older gentleman-and no jewels. Hustling his wife Lisa along with him, Steele manages to catch up with Brenda on the ship before it sails, but now they're all headed for Bermuda. Steele soon finds out that the murder victims were Brenda's lawyer and his secretary, and that Brenda is being blackmailed by her ex-husband Serge. Could Serge be involved in the two murders? Whether he is or not, someone on this cruise ship wants Steele dead.
