In addition to her unique experiences growing up in El Paso, Elizabeth Jurado worked as a teacher within the local school districts. After working as a substitute teacher and a first-grade teacher, Elizabeth made a life changing decision to walk away from her career to raise her three sons. For the next twenty-three years, she took on the challenging role of a stay-at-home mom. During those years, she began writing "Saygar the Magnificent", finding inspirations from the classrooms where she had the privilege of teaching many young students full of unforgettable personalities, her childhood, and her own sons. Trying to find quiet time to write while raising three very active boys was not easy, but line by line, paragraph by paragraph, Elizabeth finally completed her book.
