Recently a renewed interest in the use of timber in multi-storey buildings is arising due to the environmental and sustainable benefits of using wood as construction material. Innovative new technology developments are growing as the demand worldwide by engineers and architects in order to design and realize buildings with high seismic performance. Post-tensioned timber structures improve their seismic behaviour with the addiction of external systems: while the post-tensioning provides desirable recentering properties, the reinforcing devices dissipate energy increasing moment resistance to withstand high levels of seismic loading without damages to the structural system. This book means to provide additional information for the design, modelling and construction of damage-free post-tensioned timber constructions with adding different forms of devices, such as dissipative steel angles and braces. In this book, this is supported throughout innovative modelling techniques, analyses with f.e. programs and introducing new concepts for the design procedure of adding dissipative braces in order to open up new markets for multi-storey timber framed constructions with anti-seismic systems
