For PHIL LIT, a paragon is not a poem that conforms to a single idea of perfection. What feels perfect, necessary, or fully realized in one poem may look entirely different in another. We use the word to honor poems that are shaped with intention, alive to their own possibilities, and willing to make room for complexity, surprise, vulnerability, and change.

The collection serves both as an anthology and as a record of PHIL LIT's editorial year: a gathering of poems shaped by close attention to image, sound, form, restraint, emotional truth, and the many ways language can deepen our experience of the world.
