Über den Autor
Mario R. García was fourteen years old when he arrived in Miami as part of Operation Pedro Pan, the historic airlift that brought more than 14,000 Cuban children to the United States. Like many Pedro Pans, he arrived alone, leaving behind his parents, his homeland, and the life he knew. The experience would shape not only his future, but his understanding of identity, resilience, and the meaning of home.

Today, Mario is recognized as one of the world's leading media designers, editors, and consultants. Over a career spanning more than five decades, he has advised hundreds of publications in more than 120 countries, helping transform some of the most influential newspapers, magazines, and digital media organizations in the world. He is the founder of García Media, an adjunct professor at Columbia University's Graduate School of Journalism, and the author of numerous books on journalism, design, leadership, and innovation.

After working with hundreds of media executives around the world, Mario learned that the best leaders are the ones who trained their teams and then trusted them. He was also an advocate of leaders surrounding themselves with smart and creative people, so everyone shines. The best idea always wins, Mario strongly believes, no matter who it comes [...] before the awards, the books, and the global career, he was simply a young immigrant learning how to navigate a new country and build a new life. In Pedro Pan: Learning to Dance - The Long Road to Becoming American, García turns his attention to the deeply personal story behind the public accomplishments, sharing a heartfelt memoir of exile, family, belonging, and the lifelong journey of becoming American.
