Beschreibung
From the best selling author of "None Stood [...] book both concludes the series, and provides an introduction for new readers.

A reluctant hero who pays the price of freedom.
In 1941 when Dorothy Archer saw the opportunity to serve her country, she didn't hesitate. A woman escaping her past, she had no prospects, nothing to lose. Perhaps destiny dictated that the Special Operations Executive should recognise the very special talents that even Dotty is unaware of. A charismatic personality, she can be flirtatious and charming, but also proves to be a fearless assassin! Dotty finds herself torn between those contradictions. Beyond the murky world she inhabits, she struggles with life and relationships. The only man she is ever able to love, is also a part of that world. Dotty is a reluctant hero, who pays the price of freedom.
Thirty-nine women served in Occupied France as SOE field agents during WW2. Dotty owes more to those thirty-nine than anything in the author's imagination. Although a work of fiction this book is deeply rooted in historic detail. The contribution that the SOE made during WW2 is brought to life through the story of Dorothy Archer. Her life and loves are a true reflection of the period.

Über den Autor
Peter Turnham describes himself as an accidental novelist. As a semi-retired businessman, his life was very active, until a snapped Achilles' tendon confined him to a chair for several months. Unable to be active, Peter turned to writing and discovered a hidden talent. The result was his first novel "Autumn Daffodils - Charlie's Story". This was quickly followed by a second novel, "Autumn Daffodils - Joanna's Story" .His third novel is historical fiction, a gripping story set during WWII entitled "None Stood Taller". The narrative covers the period from March 1941, during the Blitz in London, and ends on D-Day, 6th June 1944. It has proved to be extremely popular and readers approve of the immense amount of research involved about SOE to ensure the factual details are accurate, albeit the book is still fiction. This book was short-listed for the UK 2022 Selfies Award, an annual award aimed directly at self-publishing authors. The follow-on novel opens on the day after D Day and is entitled "None Stood Taller, The Final Year", taking Lily, Edward and all their Station M colleagues through exciting and troubling times to VE Day. The third in the series is entitled "None Stood Taller, The Price of Freedom" which has the main character as Dotty, Lily's best friend. As we know from the previous two novels in the series, Dotty eventually joins the Special Operations Executive to the surprise of all her friends, but now we find out that she becomes a reluctant hero with very special talents which prove to be of use to her SOE colleagues. Although a work of fiction, this book continues the author's intention to weave realistic stories around actual historical facts; once again, this novel is deeply rooted in accurate historic detail which Peter greatly enjoyed researching. The contribution that the SOE made during WW2 is brought to life through the story of Dotty; Peter has dedicated this book to those thirty-nine brave women who served in Occupied France as SOE field agents during WW2, many of whom sadly never came home again. Peter lives in the English Cotswold hills with his wife and collaborator Carol. His 6th novel is "Parallel Lives, a Story of the Greatest Generation", also set during World War Two, and is the story of two ordinary people, Emma, a doctor at St Thomas's Hospital, London and Roger, a police detective, who live through extraordinary times and confront unimaginable hardship. An inspirational story of courage amid the chaos and destruction of the London Blitz.
