He meets a Spanish girl who befriends him, but we fear her intentions are not good. This turns out to be the case. An unseen twist in the plot reveals that our protagonist is actually a vampire and turns the tables on the perpetrators. Taking advantage of the secluded spot he has been taken to, the protagonist now calmly leaves the scene, boards the midnight train for Madrid and leaves without a trace.
