"A timely piece, written with a light touch and gentle humour that nonetheless delivers meaningful and accessible methods to inspire everyone in their creative journeys."

We are creative organisms, pattern-seeking learning machines; the only thing that stops us is how we use our minds.
The ideas in this book will spark your creativity and demonstrate the techniques used.
It is beholden upon us to think bigger, better, and more creatively. We cannot fix the mess in the world by using the same thinking that created it.

Vic Hyland, a nationally recognised music educator, international examiner for LCM Exams, and influential figure in the music industry, has released his latest ground-breaking book, Music, Magic, and NLP. This creative compendium delves into the realms of music, magic, and Neuro-Linguistic Programming, offering readers a unique and transformative journey through the power of creativity and the human mind.

In Music, Magic, and NLP, Vic Hyland explores the depths of human creativity, emphasising the importance of expanding our minds and thinking beyond conventional boundaries. Drawing upon his 50 years of professional experience, Hyland presents readers with a thought-provoking narrative that challenges the norms and sparks imagination. The book takes readers on a wild ride through the history of Western music, the intricacies of 20th-century pop, and the profound insights of Neuro-Linguistic Programming (NLP). Hyland's work also intertwines the techniques of influential figures like William S. Burroughs and Brion Gysin, demonstrating how creativity can emerge from chaos and randomness.
Mark Fitzpatrick of The Hedge School podcast has applauded the book, describing Vic Hyland as a "consummate artist" and praising Music, Magic, and NLP as "an incredible compendium of ideas, theories, techniques, and personal memoir."

Through his writing, Vic Hyland challenges readers to think bigger, better, and more creatively, emphasising the need to break free from conventional thinking in order to make sense of the chaotic world around us. He stresses that creativity is not just a trait but a skill that can be nurtured and developed with the right mindset.

Über den Autor
My passion for playing the guitar in my teens led me to play in bands and teach music. Initially, I was self-taught, and although I studied classical guitar with various teachers and attended masterclasses with many famous players, including Barney Kessel, most of my learning was experiential and playing concerts across London and the South-East. I adopted creative, focused teaching using psychological techniques such as NLP, which I learnt from its founder, Richard Bandler. I have taught many who have achieved great success in the arts and music industry throughout my teaching profession. To name a few, guitarist Ben Thomas, who now plays for Adele and Sam Smith, and the actor Alex Tomkins, who is currently playing the lead part of Dewey in the School of Rock in the West End. My interest in teaching and creativity comes from my work with inspirational players whom I observed and interviewed to find how they think and achieve their goals, which I am now using in a podcast entitled "Creative", which is available on iTunes. My experience in music education spans over 45 years. In that time, I've taught many highly successful musicians, actors, songwriters, and also people who have enjoyed the guitar as a hobby. A fascination with people's ability to learn has led me to study the psychological aspects of learning through NLP (neuro-linguistic programming), which I use in training programs within the summer school Bluescampuk and the music not for profit, Ikaromusic.
