Man O' War was voted by The Blood Horse and Sports Illustrated as the #1 Race Horse of the 20th Century, and one of Sports Illustrated's top 100 Athletes of the 20th Century. During his 30 years of life, he captured the adoration of millions of fans worldwide, and was visited in retirement by over 3 million. Compared to a "living flame" by the late Joe Palmer, the fiery red chestnut stallion was almost impossible to break to saddle, fighting like a raging tiger. He brought thousands of people back to the race tracks in 1919 and gave America a sports hero to brighten their day after WWI. While the world was loving the legendary Man O' War, he fell in love with his soulmate and groom Will Harbut, who acted as an ambassador for him to the public. This story is an old fashioned great American memoir about the fastest race horse there may ever be, and his inseperable bond with horse whispering Will Harbut, whom referred to the horse as his "mostest." Lexingtonians began to wonder whether Will and Man O' War could live without each other. Ann Reilly, fictionally in Will Harbut's voice, tells the story of Man O' War's life in a way which causes readers to fall in love with the spirit and heart of Man O' War and Will Harbut.

Über den Autor

Ann S. Reilly, Ph.D. began her love affair with horses when her grandfather began taking her to Man O' War's memorial at the remains of the Glenn Riddle Training Farm in Berlin, MD when she was a very young child. Ann's first college research paper was on the bloodlines of thoroughbred race horses. She is a life long equestrian and sport psychologist mainly for equestrians. Ann is the author of "A Sport Psychology Workbook for Riders," (2001, J. A. Allen: London, England) and has written feature articles and sport psychology columns for Sidelines Magazine, the American Riding Instructor's Magazine: Horse Show and Equestrian - the official publication of the United States Equestrian Federation, The Horse Connection, Hunter and Sport Horse Magazine, and numerous smaller publications. Ann has commentated on television and radio, presented keynote talks, and clinics all over the US. Ann earned the Ph.D. from the University of Virginia, mentored by internationally acclaimed sport psychologist and New York Ties Best Selling author Dr. Robert J. Rotella. She taught at the university of Virginia, Sweet Briar College, and The Foxcroft School. Since 1994 Ann has been a private sport psychology consultant and writer, working with Olympic Gold medalist to beginning riders. Most of her life Ann has show horses, including internationally, in the hunter, jumper, equitation, and dressage arenas and continues to do so. She is an advocate of saving race horses after they retire and has retrained several to go on to new careers. A native of McLean, VA, Ann currently lives in Wellington, FL with her fiancé Scott Reinsberg, her horses Dennis and Fuente de Mar, her dogs Schuyler and Lily from Danny and Ron's Rescue, and two African Gray Parrots named Charles and Jacko.
