Beschreibung
• Sassafras Lowrey has quickly established a reputation for hirself as one of America's bright new lights of queer literature; ze was the 2013 winner of the Lambda Literary Emerging Writer Award, and is the author or editor of three small press books. (Note: Sassasfras uses the gender-neutral pronouns "ze" and "hir.")
• In this, hir first novel for an established press, Sassafras creates a queer punk mashup of the Peter Pan story, set in a contemporary yet alternative universe, in which abandoned and runaway queers band together in service to Pan and Mommy Wendi.
• Peter Pan will be in the public imagination in the coming months: NBC is broadcasting a live musical version in December.
• Sassafras is well connected to the LGBTQ writing community as well as to non-profit and social activist organizations as part of her daily work with homeless youth. Ze is also an excellent public reader who will do well at events and festivals. In the past, ze has also read at LGBTQ youth centers, and at homeless shelters to facilitate writing workshops with youth.
• While this book will appeal to queer youth, we will market it as an adult LGBTQ novel.
