Irving Chernev (1900-1981) was a prolific and highly regarded writer on chess. A strong player in his own right, he had a unique gift for explaining the game in a lucid, accessible and entertaining way. Chernev is the author of over 20 books on chess, Logical Chess Move By Move being his most famous work.
