When Jayben wakes up in the Memorywoods holding a golden torch, he can't remember anything that came before. For centuries, the elves have preserved their memories in jars hanging from trees, but now the forests are being burned down.

Jayben is a Great Dreamer who has been sent from Earth to help - if he can fix the broken golden torch, then the power will be unimaginable - the flame contains a magic so strong that peace will once again fall over the Memorywoods, and the elves will be free from evil forever.
