John C. Markowitz, MD, is a Professor of Clinical Psychiatry at Columbia University College of Physicians and Surgeons and a Research Psychiatrist at New York State Psychiatry Institute. Dr. Markowitz is an internationally recognized expert in psychotherapy research, who has conducted several NIMH- and foundation-funded studies of interpersonal psychotherapy (IPT), cognitive behavioral therapies, and medications. He has studied treatments of mood, anxiety, and personality disorders, and has published more than 300 peer-reviewed articles, chapters, and reviews.
