Beschreibung
Industrial Society and Its Future-commonly known as The Unabomber Manifesto-is a provocative and controversial essay that critiques the consequences of modern industrial and technological development on human freedom and psychological well-being.

Written by Theodore John Kaczynski, a former mathematics prodigy turned radical critic of technological progress, the manifesto outlines his belief that the rise of large-scale technological systems has led to widespread social dysfunction, environmental destruction, and the erosion of individual autonomy. Kaczynski argues that only by dismantling industrial society can human beings regain control over their lives and restore a sense of purpose and natural balance.

This edition presents the original text in full, allowing readers to explore the arguments that fueled one of the most infamous anti-technology movements in modern history. While the author's actions have been universally condemned, the work remains a subject of debate in academic, political, and philosophical circles for its uncompromising analysis of the costs of progress.

Über den Autor
Born on May 22, 1942, in Chicago, Theodore John (Ted) Kaczynski, so his real name, displayed exceptional intelligence from an early age. He graduated from Harvard University and went on to earn a Ph. D. in mathematics. In 1971, he abruptly ended his academic career and retreated to a remote cabin in Montana, where he began to plan his war on society. - While Kaczynski's methods were abhorrent, his Manifesto provoked debates on the costs of technological advancement and the erosion of personal liberties. 1998 the Unabomber was sentenced to eight consecutive life terms in prison without the possibility of parole. He died in prison, presumably as a result of suicide, on June 10, 2023, at the age of 81.
