'In the Unlikely Event is Judy Blume's first book for adults in more than fifteen years and before the end of the first chapter you'll be breathing a happy sigh that the wait is over'
Sunday Express

It's December 1951 and Miri Ammerman - fifteen years old and in love for the first time - is wrestling with the ordinary and not-so-ordinary dilemmas of growing up. But this is the winter that changes everything and a series of tragedies in Miri's suburban New Jersey town leaves the whole community reeling. Amid loss and heartbreak, it's not always easy for Miri and her family to think of themselves as the lucky ones. But through it all, hope endures and each generation reminds another that life goes on.

'Extraordinary . . . like sitting down with a beloved, long-lost friend'
Independent

'Judy Blume's hallmark warmth and humanity shine through'
Guardian

'Thoroughly beguiling . . . irresistible'
Mail on Sunday

'Dangerously life-enhancing'
Scotsman
