GREAT VOICE AND INCREDIBLE CHARACTERS: Auralee Wallace has developed an incredibly charming cozy world, with a town that feels like Stars Hollow, aunts who have the delightful energy of the Spellmans, a mischevious crow familiar (named Dog!), and a protagonist with real emotional depth without being too heavy
MAGICAL MYSTERY: Despite the magic at her disposal, Brynn will heavily rely on traditional mystery-solving methods, so this book will appeal to traditional cozy mystery readers; the emotional depth, great worldbuilding, and brilliant characters will draw in magic-loving readers as well
EXPERIENCED AUTHOR: Auralee Wallace wrote the Otter Lake mystery series (which centers around various holidays in the town of Otter Lake) for St. Martin's Press, and although that series underperformed, we believe that moving to Berkley with this new concept, much stronger hook, and the right package will help her break out within the cozy market
