"A legal drama that's part Southern fiction, Holler Whispers draws you inexorably into the lives of its interesting and well-drawn characters. But the mystery keeps you guessing until the very end. Deeply satisfying and enjoyable." -Mary Ellen Bramwell, bestselling author of When I Was Seven
Oakland defense attorney Joe Turner ventures to a small town in the Deep South to defend an autistic teenager accused of murdering the local high school football hero. The tense trial is seen through the eyes of the jury, a diverse group that struggles with their own preconceptions about autism and fractures under the weight of their decision. But is there a plant on the jury? And whose side are they on?
Desperate to shield his endearing client from a life sentence, Joe is assisted by his daring girlfriend and his colorful investigator. Together, the three urbanites navigate a world of Southern charm and hillbilly legend where secrets whisper through the hollers, just out of reach.
Written by a trial attorney, Holler Whispers captures the raw emotion of the courtroom and depicts a criminal justice system fraught with human frailty. Endorsed by the Autism Society, the story explores how society treats its most vulnerable and reveals how the truth can come from the most unexpected voices.

Über den Autor
T.L. Bequette is a criminal defense attorney turned writer from Lafayette, California. His award-winning Joe Turner Mysteries have received critical acclaim: "Bequette's prose is reliably crisp and descriptive, and lots of intrigue and suspense are embedded in a thrillingly serpentine story." (Kirkus Reviews). Much of Bequette's law practice involves defending young men from Oakland accused of murder, so his day job provides a trove of plotlines waiting to be written. A Georgetown Law graduate, he serves annually on the faculty of the Stanford Law School Trial Advocacy Clinic. He enjoys playing with a tireless border collie mix, Russet, and is, and will remain, a lifelong fan of the Oakland A's.
