Each print is accompanied by a technical explanation that helps the reader to understand the image, with descriptions where possible of the actual places depicted.

Über den Autor

Elisabetta Scantamburlo is an art and design critic. She obtained her doctorate in East Asian Studies and carried out research at Keio University in Tokyo. She has curated exhibitions and collaborated with The International Hokusai Research Centre in Tokyo in the realization of important exhibitions on Ukiyo-e woodblock prints. She is the author of Shunga: Images of Desire in the Erotic Art of Japan.
