VOLUME FIVE OF THE 'TALES OF THE OTORI'

Lord Shigeru, heir to the Otori clan, faces danger from all sides: hostility from the ambitious Iida family in the East, and base treachery from his own uncles at home. His education and training as a warrior have prepared him for leadership, but fate and Shigeru's youthful determination bring the Three Countries to war, and he will endure terrible and tragic defeat. Shigeru bides his time, waiting patiently for the moment when he will act to win back the Middle Country and finally be reunited with the woman he loves.

With his life under constant threat - the warlord Iida Sadamu is not done in wanting him dead - Shigeru will rely on friends, not only to protect him, but also to reveal the existence of a boy who might prove to be 'the unexpected move that opens up the whole game', a boy from the secret sect known as the Hidden.

Heaven's Net is Wide is the first and last Tale of the Otori, introducing the reader to their strange and beautiful world, while bringing the circle to a close.

'An indispensable introduction to a remarkable saga. I was spurred into re-reading the whole thing. It was pure pleasure. The setting is beautiful and beautifully described, the story clicks into place perfectly.' Sunday Telegraph

Über den Autor
Lian Hearn studied modern languages at Oxford University and worked as a film critic and arts editor in London before settling in Australia. A lifelong interest in Japan led to the study of the Japanese language, many trips to Japan, and culminated in the Tales of the Otori series.
Zusammenfassung
A stunning prequel to the Tales of the Otori series that began with Across the Nightingale Floor, the mystical world of an ancient, feudal Japan, which does for medieval Japan what Game of Thrones does for medieval Europe.
