Wil Huygen (1922-2009) was a Dutch author and physician best known for his internationally bestselling books about gnomes, created in collaboration with illustrator Rien Poortvliet. His background in medicine informed the distinctive tone of Gnomes, which presents the hidden lives of these mythical creatures with observational detail and humor.
