Beschreibung
Rabindranath Tagore's Gitanjali is a landmark collection of devotional lyric poetry, presented here in the celebrated English rendering associated with W. B. Yeats. These poems, written in a spirit of quiet reflection and spiritual intensity, explore themes of surrender, divine presence, and the inner life, drawing upon the traditions of Bengali devotional expression while speaking in a universal voice.
First introduced to the English-speaking world in the early twentieth century, Gitanjali played a central role in Tagore's international recognition, culminating in the Nobel Prize in Literature. Yeats's involvement helped shape its reception, framing the work for Western audiences while preserving its meditative cadence. This edition offers the complete text in a clear and readable format, suitable for readers of poetry, philosophy, and spiritual literature.
