Über den Autor
Hugh Lofting (1886-1947) was an English author best known for creating the character of Doctor Dolittle. The first stories were written in illustrated letters to his children during the First World War, offering imaginative alternatives to the grim realities of conflict. Lofting's tales of a gentle physician who could speak with animals became international favourites and were awarded the Newbery Medal in 1923. His works continue to be read and enjoyed by generations of young readers.
