When Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie received a letter from an old friend asking for advice on raising her baby girl as a feminist, it set in motion a response comprised of fifteen suggestions for leading young girls towards free and happy lives. Matters advised on here by the "Americanah" author include choices of toys, assumptions about who should make dinner, and the importance of maintaining agency over career decisions. The overall effect proves to be not only a valuable resource for parents, but an important outlining of principles for the feminism of a generation.

A recipient of a MacArthur Fellowship, she divides her time between the United States and Nigeria.
