Über den Autor
Richard Hingley is an Emeritus Professor of Roman Archaeology at Durham University. His specialisms include the Iron Age and Roman history of Britain, archaeological theory and border studies. His books include studies of the history of the reception of the Roman past in Britain (2000, Roman Officers and English Gentlemen; 2008, The Recovery of Roman Britain), the history and reception of Boudica (2005, Boudica: Iron Age Warrior Queen), the afterlife of Hadrian's Wall (2012, Hadrian's Wall: A Life) and the archaeology and history of Roman London (2018, Londinium: A Bibliography). Richard is currently engaged on writing books that addresses the uses made of Iron Age and Roman heritages in the UK and a visitor's guide to the Roman towns of Britain. A long-term research project focuses on the use of Roman classical parallels in the colonization of north America during the sixteenth to eighteenth centuries. His recent work on Hadrian's Wall has explored the way that this
monument is drawn upon today to consider issues of bordering in today's world.
